Winner of Photography Competition

Thank you to everyone for sending us your stunning photos of hedgehogs, red squirrels and lesser spotted woodpeckers. They were all brilliant and choosing a winner has been very difficult.

We are delighted to announce that our winner is Leanne Hunter for her photo of a red squirrel. We thought this photo really captured the cheeky, charismatic personality of our native red squirrels and makes you fall in love instantly.

Leanne is lucky enough to observed these beautiful Red Squirrels on a regular basis whilst living in Fife, Scotland.

Leanne says:

"I would spend many hours in their company, watching them play and traverse the trees. I used to hand feed these beautiful creatures by the dozen in the 1980's in Formby, Merseyside. When I revisited Formby a couple of years ago, I didn't see a single one. Feeding red squirrels formed one of my fondest childhood memories and having seen their demise over the years, I appreciate just how wonderful this rare opportunity to observe several in the wild really was. It is a wildlife moment to treasure for sure".

Well done Leanne. A mug and a tea towel is on its way to you!
