“I have always been interested in the great outdoors, and being out with nature and wildlife has helped me in many ways over the past few years.”

From Anthony:

I am a 24-year-old wildlife photographer based in the North West of England. Prior to my photography career I was a zoo keeper working at various zoological collections. It was during this time, my passion for British wildlife grew and I quickly became a very keen bird watcher. From there I soon picked up a camera and couldn’t put it down!

When working in zoos I learnt that each animal is an individual and should be treated as such. As I have progressed with my photography, I always aim to capture the personalities of my subjects. There are so many creatures right on our doorsteps we can all get to know, from the tiniest insects to the largest birds, everything matters.

As a result, throughout the past 2 years, I have spent many hours focusing on the wildlife closest to me. This has also enabled me to write blogs documenting what I photograph. I really hope that in the next few years I will be able to travel outside the UK and photograph some of the species that I grew close to in the zoo world. Giraffe being top of that list!

I hope through my pictures and wildlife moments that I photograph; I can encourage more people to pick up a camera and try wildlife photography. It has given me so many incredible moments and it has been a real privilege to get to know some amazing species.
